Marlins ace reading, arithmetic
Destin Middle School has a few more reasons to flaunt their scholastic merit.
A handful of sixth and seventh graders received perfect scores in reading and mathematics in the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.
The reading portion required the students to examine words and phrases, main ideas and purpose, perform comparisons and apply research.
The math portion tests knowledge of number sense, measurement, geometry, algebraic expression, and data analysis.
Scores range from 100 to 500.
Sixth graders receiving a perfect score of 500 in reading are Gabriella Collins, Hannah Duncan, Chase Lee and Lucas Rockwell.
Seventh graders with perfect reading scores are Casey Evans, Anthony Lawrence, Samantha Lowe, Morgan Strickland, Shelby Reynolds and Riley Wroebel.
The math mavens for the sixth grade are Kerri Andre, Hannah Duncan, Kyle Jarosewicz, Charley Maholan, Megan Makela, Baili McDonald and Luis Melicio-Zambrano.
Seventh grade recipients of a perfect math score of 500 are Sam Dillon, Casey Evans, Paul Michaud, Andrew Mitchell and Sabrina Valenti.
The Log congratulates the students for their accomplishment.
