Latest scam: 'Sounds too good to be true?'
The latest scam involves a letter mailed to residents telling them they’ve won the McDonald’s Mega Prize of $450,000 from McDonald’s in Spain!
Recipients are told to contact the listed claim agent, who has an international phone number, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office press release.
Ironically the letter asks, “Sounds too good to be true?” and also if McDonalds is the person’s favorite fast food “joint”.
Public education is the key to preventing people from being duped into giving money to ever-active scam artists.
Okaloosa residents can report scams to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Fraud Hotline at 651-7674.
