Happy New Year with the Snowbirds

Christmas is gone, isn’t it sad? Such a great season, and all Snowbirds hope that everyone had a joyous time. Weren’t the churches decorated beautifully, and the true meaning of Christmas was brought out. We wish everyone,  peace, love, joy and a happy, healthy 2009.

Many people will be arriving in Destin  this week for the rest of the winter. Let me tell you, the weather will be a welcome so we can put away the snow jackets and overcoats. This has been one of the toughest November-December winters in New York State and all over the north. Everyone coming in will welcome dry roads and looking at beaches and grass with the sun shining. Hurray for Destin!

One of the first tasks for a Snowbird to accomplish is to get signed up in the Destin Snowbird Club from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 5 at the Destin Community Center on Stahlman Avenue near the bridge. At the sign up you will pick up the Calendar of Events.

The meetings will start at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Jan. 6. Get ready  for the activities, including golf, tennis, bowling, cards, fishing and much more.
Casino trips are ready for boarding. On Friday mornings for nine weeks, a bus will leave for Biloxi, rotating each week between the Isle of Capri, Imperial Palace and Hard Rock. Cost of the trip is $10 with a refund from the casino of $15. Good luck!

The Storage Locker will be open from 3 to 4 p.m. Jan. 5. Call Jim Galea at 651-2077. Normal access is 8 to 9 a.m. Saturdays.
