Kids Kite Festival

Best of the Emerald Coast
DESTIN – Emerald Coast Magazine presents the 2009 Best of the Emerald Coast winners from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at Destin Commons Center Plaza. See who the readers of Emerald Coast Magazine voted “The Best” along the Emerald Coast and enjoy food samplings, beer, wine and drinks from the winning restaurants, silent auction, and live music.

Baytowne Beer Festival

Haunted House Walking and Trolley Tours
PENSACOLA – The Pensacola Historical Society hosts the 19th Annual Haunted House and Trolley Tours fundraiser Oct. 17, 23, 24, 30 and 31. Walking tours leave every 30 minutes from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Trolley tours leave at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. All tours will leave from the Pensacola Historical Museum, 115 E. Zaragoza St., and will last one hour.
Walking tour tickets are $10/adults and $5/children 12 and under. Trolley tour tickets are $16/adults and $8/children 12 and under. Reservations and advanced payment are required. Call 595-1559.

Playwright Festival
SEASIDE – The Seaside Repertory Theatre’s 9th annual Autumn Playwright Festival will celebrate the career of Harold Pinter, and will feature the playwright’s multiple Tony Award-winning drama “The Homecoming” through Oct. 17. UWF Department of Theatre

Mullet Festival
NICEVILLE – The 33rd Annual Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival takes place beginning at 9 a.m. Oct. 17 and 10 a.m. Oct. 18 at the Mullet Festival Grounds, State Road 85 North at College Blvd.
Music headliners are Blake Shelton, Chuck Wicks and Billy Ray Cyrus. Also, enjoy arts and crafts show, a juried art show and handmade and decorated clothing in the Boutique area. Admission is $10/person and includes all entertainment. Children 11 and under are free.
Dog Day Afternoon
DESTIN – Get pets’ portraits taken and enjoy outdoor “yappy” hour with special treats for you and your dog from 3 to 6 p.m. Sundays in September at HarborWalk Village. The Alaqua Pet Rescue and Adoption Organization will benefit from all donations.
Art exhibitions
NICEVILLE – The galleries at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College will present two exhibitions through Oct. 18 — “Vitriforms: Contemporary Glass Art” in the McIlroy Gallery and “Selections from the Permanent Collection” in the Holzhauer Gallery. Oil painting

Blue Angels

Fall Festival
DESTIN – Destin Elementary School will hold its first Fall Festival from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 23 on the track at the school. Classrooms will create games for the event. There will be a bake sale, raffles, inflatable rides and spider mountain. Food, from $1 to $5, furnished by Merlins Pizza and Hog's Breath. Armbands, which cover all ride and games, are preselling for $8 and will be $10 the night of the event.
Benise — Nights of Fire!
NICEVILLE – Spanish guitarist Roni Benise brings his Emmy award-winning Nights of Fire! to the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23.
