SANTA ROSA BEACH — An HGTV pilot show featuring interior design maven Ashley Gilbreath will feature homes she decorated on Walton County Road 30A when it airs at 1 p.m. Sunday.

“Sweet Home Renovation” will follow Gilbreath and her husband Barrett as they decorate homes in Alabama and Florida and try to balance life with three kids under 6 years old.

“I think what (producers) were after was a family dynamic within the design industry, and that’s what we have,” Gilbreath said in a telephone interview from Montgomery, Alabama.

The pilot will feature Gilbreath decorating a home in Inlet Beach. Gilbreath, who owns a home in Rosemary Beach and decorates homes all along 30A, said she’s attracted to the family atmosphere that allows her and her family to “check out” of day-to-day life for a little while. She said the homes she designs reflect that aesthetic.

“We try to make the approach that life happens, and we have lots of upholstery that is child proof and red wine proof,” Gilbreath said. “It’s stuff that is still very comfortable and livable.”

Gilbreath said roughly 25 percent of her design business is on CR 30A.

“The environment (on 30A) is a little bit more of a laid back, fun vacation-minded kind of lifestyle,” Gilbreath said. “A lot of our clients live there permanently, but even if you live there permanently you have a taste of that vacation life a little bit anyways. … It’s not necessarily a beachy design, but it’s a little bit more of a clean simple palate.”
