Destin Seafood Festival

The 30th annual Destin Seafood Festival will be held Oct. 4-5 at HarborWalk Village on Destin’s harbor. Enjoy fresh seafood, headlining entertainment, arts and crafts booths, children’s activities and more. Visit the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce to purchase admission passes. Passes are $5/day or $10/entire festival.

Woodlands Tour

SANTA ROSA COUNTY — Discover treasures every weekend this October on the 5th Annual Beaches to Woodlands Tour, a self-guided journey highlighting Santa Rosa’s arts & culture, heritage, and nature-based venues. A signature event on the tour is the Old Spanish Trail Sale, an opportunity to treasure hunt at antique stores and flea markets along the U.S. Highway 90 corridor on Oct. 4. Orchestra

The Pensacola Symphony Orchestra’s  will present violinist Chee-Yun at 8 p.m. Oct. 4 at First Baptist Church, 500 N Palafox Street. For ticket information, call 435-2533.

Saturday afternoon dress rehearsal concert is at 2 p.m. and admission is $5.

 

Emerald Coast HOG

FORT WALTON BEACH – Emerald Coast HOG presents Deputy Anthony Forgione Benefit Run on Oct. 4 at Heritage Cycles, 788 N. Beal Parkway. First bike out at 10 a.m. and the last bike out at 11 a.m. Last bike in at 2 p.m. A 50/50 drawing and prize giveaways at 2:30 p.m. Heritage Cycle has generously donated $500 in gift certificates. Cost is $15 per rider and $20 with passenger. Additional hands $10. Cost includes food and refreshments after the run. The event is hosted by Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Florida Chapter XXV. Proceeds benefit the Family of Deputy Anthony Forgione.

 

Art & Wine Weekend

PENSACOLA - Uncork the magic as Pensacola Beach blends the best of both worlds with its inaugural Art & Wine Weekend from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. on Oct. 4 and from noon–5 p.m. on Oct. 5. Celebrate the taste of unique, diverse and flavorful wines. The tasting is free.

Oktoberfest

NAVARRE PARK – The Environmental Education Team has partnered with the American Legion Post 382 to present the Coastal Encounters Event and an Oktoberfest Celebration on Oct. 4 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Navarre Park. The event will provide family entertainment, food, fun and educational activities to locals and tourists alike. As part of the Beaches to Woodlands Tour this event is one of many throughout Santa Rosa County that will showcase the many wonders of our county. Join us for this fun filled day. Free admission. Birds, Bay & Butterflies

ST. JOSEPH BAY - St. Joseph Bay Preserves is hosting its Bay Day Festival on Oct. 4 at the Preserves Center, five miles south of Port St. Joe on Hwy. C30A. Events begin at 8 a.m. and end at 9 p.m. There is something for everyone: Food, music, guided trips, boating tours, presentations, exhibits. Saturday trips begin with a bird walk at 8 a.m. EDT and conclude that evening with an astronomy walk. Sunday's special free event will be a butterfly walk at 10:30 a.m. Other trips include backcountry tours of the Preserves to see fall wildflowers, butterflies, and learn about the Preserves' ecology. There will also be photo and wildlife exhibits. On Saturday, from 11 a.m. until food runs out, visitors can enjoy a Low Country Shrimp Boil meal. All events are free except for the shrimp boil meal; off-site trips; boating trips that cost $10 each. Advance registration online at www.stjosephbaypreserves.org suggested. Opera at Rave

Rave Motion Pictures at Destin Commons presents “Carmen,” a presentation of the Royal Opera House in London, at 7 p.m. Oct. 5. Tickets are $20.

 

Howl at the Moon

Howl at the Moon starts every Sunday night with no cover charge from 7 to 8 p.m. for anyone 21 and up (except for some holidays and Special events) We are 18 to enter, 21 to drink.

Dueling Piano Show begins at 8 p.m. followed by Comedy Show with Shaun Jones and Sid Davis at 9 p.m. Oct. 5.

 

Starlight Film Series 

The Seaside Repertory Theatre presents the Starlight Film Series at 8 p.m. Sundays through October on the Seaside Lyceum Lawn. Cost is $5. A feature film will be shown on a big screen. Tickets will be sold at the door. Call 231-0733.

Wednesday Night Concerts

Bucktown Kickback appears in a free concert from 7-9 p.m. in the Plaza on main stage at The Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin. Call 267-8117.

 

And Then There Were None

NICEVILLE – The Northwest Florida State College theatrical production of Agatha Christie’s mystery “And Then There Were None” is set for the Sprint Theater at the Mattie Kelly Fine and Performing Arts Center on the college’s Niceville campus on Oct. 8, 9, 10, and 11 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets; $20 for adults and $15 for youth, are now available at the NWF State College Box Office at 729-6000 or in-person Monday-Fridays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The arts complex is located on the college’s Niceville campus at 100 College Blvd.

Wine Tasting

Raise a glass to fall with hand-selected vintages showcased by Sandestin Wine World as part of the shop’s weekly Wine Tasting at 5 p.m. every Friday. Cost is $10/person. Call 622-0802.

 

Navarre Beach Festival of the Arts

NAVARRE – The 3rd Annual Fall Festival of the Arts will be held at Navarre Beach on Oct. 10, 11 and 12. Latin Night on Friday from 6-11 p.m., featuring Dalena from 7-9 p.m. The Artist’s Market opens on Saturday at 10 a.m. Saturday afternoon the local church and school groups will perform on the GNBAA stage. A Touch of Gray will perform at 7 p.m. with their own renditions of 50’s, 60’s and 70’s Rock. Sunday starts with the First Baptist Church service at 10 a.m. The Artist’s Market opens after the church service. The University of West Florida Symphony will perform that afternoon. Bring your beach chairs and enjoy the music, great food and fun. Caring & Sharing of South Santa Rosa County will be accepting donations of food at the GNBAA tent. We are requesting that people bring canned goods, packaged goods and non-perishable food stuffs that are not expired, and donate them. Volunteers are needed for the festival operations. Butterfly Festival

NAVARRE – Celebrate the wonder of nature’s favorite quick-change artist – the butterfly – at the Panhandle Butterfly House 2nd Annual Butterfly Festival on Oct. 10, 11 and 12. Held at the scenic Navarre Park on US Highway 98 in Navarre, the festival offers fun for the entire family. From 10 a.m.-3 p.m. attendees can enjoy walking through the vivarium– a screen structure housing hundreds of butterflies and the plants they love. Wine and Music Festival

PANAMA CITY – The Panama City Beach Seafood, Wine & Music Festival takes place on Oct. 10 from 4 p.m-11 p.m. and Oct. 11 and 12 from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. at Frank Brown Park, 16200 Panama City Beach Pkwy. Festival-goers will enjoy a true taste of the Gulf Coast. This family-friendly festival will include culinary delights by local chefs, wine tastings, arts, crafts, entertainment, classic car show and more. Live musical performances nightly will feature nationally acclaimed artists Blues Traveler, 38 Special and country star Craig Morgan. One-day adult admission is $15 for Oct. 10 and 12, and $20 Oct 11. Daily admission for children ages 4-15 is $5 on Oct.10 and12 and $7 Oct. 11. Little ones age three and under are free. Destin Porsche Club Show

 The North Florida Region of the Porsche Club of America will host the Destin Porsche Club Show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 11 at Grand Boulevard Mall.  More than 100 Porsches and exotic cars can be seen during the fundraiser for the cardio-vascular unit at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. Admission is free. The car show is open to all Porsches from 1948 to 2008, as well as exotic cars, including the Lotus, Lamborghini and Ferrari. To register, call Russ Aldrich at 585-3002.

 

Fall Family 

Festival

Destin Commons and On The Coast Family Magazine will host the Fall Family Festival with an emphasis on the Arts from 12 to 5 p.m. Oct. 12. Enjoy non-stop performances and demonstrations from local kids’ groups and organizations, arts and crafts, character meet and greets, a bounce house, rock wall climbing and other activities. The ride activities require purchase of tickets. Proceeds will go to art and music programs in local schools.

 

Art exhibit: America is Very Wide

The University of West Florida Department of Art announces “America is Very Wide,” an art exhibition by new media contemporary artist, Chad Eby, will be Oct. 16-Nov. 26 in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts Art Gallery, Bldg. 82. The artist lecture will be held at 3 p.m. Oct. 16 and the opening reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Call 474-2045.

 

Art exhibit: Art in Public Places

The Walton County Tourist Development Council and Friends of Coastal Branch Library present the October Art in Public Places exhibit featuring the artwork of Jerri Whitehead. Call 267-1216.

 

Dracula’s Castle!

See Dracula, the ballet with a bite, at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18 and afterward join the cast and crew for a party on the stage in Count Dracula’s castle at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center in Niceville. Food and drink catered by Vin’tij and music for dancing from disc jockey Gareth Jones. Come in costume.
