New Year's Eve on the coast

Whether your are looking to close out the year with a ball drop, fine dining, bell ringing or with a big bang and fireworks, the Emerald Coast is party central. There are plenty of options to ring in 2014 in Destin and South Walton. Here are some of them.

Destin harbor ball drop

End the year with a blast and a large street party. It will be twice as nice on New Year's Eve as two fireworks shows will light up the sky over the harbor one at 8 p.m. and one at midnight. And don't forget the 6th Annual Ball Drop on the harbor.

The Andy Velo Band and Gypsy Riot will perform on the main stage, in addition to dozens of other music venues and street performers to entertain the crowds all night long. If you are looking for something a little different, check out the Emerald Grande Ballroom Party, which will showcase live music from the dance band, Cool Rayz.

The Harborview Room will also be a hotspot as The Big Party gets under way, featuring Vegas-style gaming, dinner and dancing. Call 850-424-0622 for reservations.Both parties include party favors and a champagne toast at midnight. The cost for both parties is $99 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

Baytowne Countdown

Dance the night away and enjoy live bands and breathtaking fireworks as they light up the sky over the lagoon at midnight during Baytowne Countdown at 8 p.m. Dec. 31 in the Events Plaza at The Village of Baytowne Wharf. Event is free.

New Year’s Eve Countdown

While it's not Times Square, it is South Barrett Square and they’re ready to ring in the new year — literally! A countdown clock will be projected on the front of Town Hall in Rosemary Beach starting at 6 p.m. At midnight, we’ll ring the bell and usher in 2014!

New Year’s Eve Celebration

Ring in the New Year in Seaside style at 6 p.m. in the Seaside Amphitheater with live performances by talented artists, children’s art projects, face painting, special street performances and other surprises guaranteed to get you ready to celebrate 2014.

American Legion

American Legion Post 296, 311 Main St. in Destin, will host a New Year’s Eve Party with band Bone Dry from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Cost is $15/person or $25/couple. Breakfast served at 12:30 a.m.  Call 837-3818.

Funky New Year’s Eve

Get funky for New Year’s Eve at Funky Blues Shack, 707 Harbor Blvd. in Destin with two seatings, 6-6:30p.m. and 8-8:30 p.m. Music begins at 10p.m. with Robby Walton. Cost is $39/person.

Funky Blues Shack in Baytowne has three seatings, 5-5:30 p.m., $39; 6:30-7 p.m., $59; and 8:30-9 p.m., $79. Pranzo Party

Pranzo on Okaloosa Island will host an all-you-can eat party with a soundtrack provided by The New Orleans Ramblers. At $49 per person, reservations are recommended for this event featuring bottomless champagne, prime rib and carving station, lobster, chilled seafood, pasta, osso bucco and other Italian favorites. Salute 2013

Before you ring in the New Year, salute 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fonville Press in Alys Beach with cocktails, light fare, and live music by Kyle LaMonica.

Rockin’ New Years Eve

Glen David Andrews + Grayton Bar & Grill = a Rockin' New Year's Eve on Dec. 31 at 170 E County Road 30A in Santa Rosa Beach. Early seating is 5-7:30 p.m. and is $55/person. Late seating runs from 8-10 p.m. and includes live entertainment with Glen David Andrews and a midnight champagne toast at a cost of $85/person. Kids’ Night Out

A Kids’ Night Out New Year’s Eve Bash will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at WaterColor Inn & Resort. Cost is $75/child; reservations required at 534-5975.

New Year’s with a Vue

Dine, dance & ring in 2014 at The Vue on 30A. Music by Chris Alvarado & Co. Enjoy five gourmet courses; view the menu at www.vueon30a.com or call 267-2305 for information and reservations. Early and late seating available.

Marie’s Bistro NYE

The bistro will ring in the New Year opening at 5 p.m. with a variety of offerings, special appetizer selections and three-course dinners starting at $22, with discounts on their barside celebration. For reservations call 278-6856.

Get Groovy

Ring in the New Year with Groovy Grouper's four-course dinner — $32 per person while enjoying Joe Fingers on keyboard at 5 p.m. Call 424-7172 for reservations. See the Destin Commons’ restaurants menu at www.groovygroupergrill.com.

Poppy’s Seafood Pops

Poppy’s Seafood Factory offers a special set menu with music on the patio at The Village of Baytowne Wharf at 5, 7, and 9 p.m. Call 351-1996.

Travinia time

The biggest party of the year with the chef's New Year's Eve menu and live music. Regular dining until 7 p.m. and reservations only after 8 p.m. with seatings at 8, 9, and 10 p.m. $45 per person. Call 654-4442.

Polar Bear Plunge

 The Destin Fire Rescue Foundation’s annual Polar  Bear Plunge is at 11 a.m. Jan. 1 behind The Crab Trap at James Lee Park in Destin. A $20 donation entry fee helps raise funds for the Destin Junior Lifeguards.  First 100 receive a T-shirt. Call 685-0408 for more information.

Polar Bear Splash

The first ever SWFD Polar Bear Splash will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 1 at Ed Walline Park. All proceeds from $20 donation will benefit the SWFD Department Relations Committee. Polar Bear Plunge

The Annual Polar Bear Plunge will be held at 9 a.m. Jan.  1 at WaterColor Inn & Resort, 34 Goldenrod Circle in WaterColor. The event is free and T-shirts will be available for purchase.

New Years Day Brunch

Enjoy a New Years Brunch from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 1 at Crab Island Cantina with bottomless Margaritas, Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas, $12 with an entrée purchase.
