DESTIN — Think about those who have nothing for Christmas. Mission Love Seeds can’t help them all, but it would if it could.
The Destin-based organization's 2016 campaign, Christmas Miracle Mission, plans to raise funds for more than 200 children worldwide and dozens of local families.
“Another Christmas is coming quick, and we want the children in the Philippines, Kenya and Haiti to have big smiles on their faces when they see how generous the supporters of Mission have been,” said Barbi-Carrol, president and co-founder of Mission Love Seeds. "There are also many, many local families who are having a hard time, and we want to make sure they have a Christmas this year."
The organiization's Adopt-A-Child has about 100 children in the Philippines, 50 in Kenya and 25 in Haiti who can be adopted for Christmas for $25. Photos of children can be seen on Mission Love Seeds Charity page on Facebook.
In the Philippines Mission Love Seeds supports 12 villages, but this year donations raised will be used in the village of Dumpsite, where children can be seen digging through the trash for a bite to eat.
Carroll's family is providing the meal for the children and families this year in remembrance of their brother who recently passed away.
Most of the children in Kenya are orphans and have nothing, she said. Many have never seen a toy and have only the clothes on their back.
"Time is running out and I really need help getting all the kids adopted in time to wire funds so we can purchase clothes and toys for them," Carroll said.
Requests keep coming daily to help local families. Many of the families wish lists are on the Facebook page or you can contact Mission Love Seeds.
To make a donation, send money to 55 Country Club Drive E. in Destin or visit the website missionloveseeds.org to donate using PayPal or credit card. Items can also be dropped off at 55 Country Club Drive E. for local families not adopted. All age toys are needed, plus gift cards of all denominations, movie passes, inexpensive perfume sets, nail polish and make-up sets. Also needed are new children's clothing and shoes of all sizes. Don't forget the teenagers.
