The seventh annual Rice & Beans 5K Rumble will be held May 13 at Truth Evangelistic Ministries headquarters, 105 Koon St., off Beal Parkway behind Wright Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach.

This family friendly 5K run/walk uses the proceeds to feed hungry people in Haiti. It is sponsored by Truth Evangelistic Ministries, whose mission is to bring hope and healing to the poorest country in the western hemisphere. Truth Ministries has been involved in Haiti for almost 20 years.

To identify with the Haitian people, participants are encouraged to run hungry. After the race, there will be rice and beans, pulled pork sandwiches and homemade desserts available to quiet the rumble in their tummies.

The race begins at 7:30 a.m. The cost is $25 for early registration and $30 after May 11.

There is a free race for all kids ages 12 and under starting at 8:30. No registration is necessary for the kid’s race.

Race day registration and package pick up is from 6:15-7:15 a.m.

Awards for the race are hand-crafted statues from Haiti.

Visit www.truthem.org/run or www.active.com and search for “Rice & Beans” for more details and to register for the race.
