DESTIN — Employees at Destin Holiday Beach Resort rescued a 5-year-old boy Saturday after they found him face down in a swimming pool, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
The boy was discovered in the pool about 10:30 a.m. He had been sitting on the steps of the pool when his caretakers turned their attention away briefly, the Sheriff's Office reported.
He was pulled from the pool and two resort employees began to administer aid.
By the time sheriff's deputies arrived at the resort at 1006 U.S. Highway 98, the boy's color was returning and he was breathing on his own, according to the Sheriff's Office.
EMS took him to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, where his prognosis was good, the Sheriff's Office said.
