Red, White and Blue Celebration
The celebration at 7 p.m. every Thursday at HarborWalk Village highlights the efforts of those who go above and beyond to better their community. Enjoy live entertainment with The Village Belles, free kid’s crafts, face painting, a vintage WWII flyover, a fireworks show over the harbor and fire dancing with Just Add Fire at 9 p.m. Lady Korean war vets will be honored this week. Joanne Blackwell, Charlene Howard and Joyce West joined the “Women’s Air Force” in the 1950's and were among the small number of women who served.
At 8 p.m. on Thursday nights through Aug. 3, the Emerald Coast Theatre Company presents a free fun-for-all-ages adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew” in Grand Park at Grand Boulevard. Opening reception for the Arts and Design Society's show Carnival will be held from 6-8 p.m. June 9 at 17 First Street SE in Fort Walton Beach. Who wants some beads? Join in Fat Tuesday as HarborWalk Village transforms into the Big Easy on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. It’s one Pardi in Para-dise where you can enjoy dazzling floats, beads and lots of swag during a free parade through HarborWalk Village. Parade begins at 8:30 p.m. every Tuesday.

Independent Film Series
The Friends Guild of the Destin Library will sponsor a movie, the drama/romance "Wres-tling Ernest Hemingway," at 3 p.m. June 20 at the Destin Library. The program is free and open to the public; directed to-ward a mature audience.

The Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries present a national touring exhibition, Tales and Myths: The Paintings of Katherine Ace, through July 22 in both the McIlroy and the Holzhauer Galleries at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville. The exhibition of works Ace takes familiar and not-so-familiar fairy tales and retells them in large-scale mixed-media paintings. The exhibition is free of charge and open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 90 minutes prior to most Mainstage Theater performances.

The summer musical theater workshop for youth at Northwest Florida State College will present the mini-musical comedy "Hairspray, Jr." in the Sprint Theater of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at 1 p.m. June 28 and 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. June 29. Tickets are $5 each and available starting June 14. The show will be the culmination of concentrated training in voice, acting, and dance offered through a musical theatre workshop for youth ages 8th grade.

Festival of the Arts
Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation presents the 22nd Annual Festival of the Arts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 28 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin. A celebration of art, music, food and family fun, the Festival will showcase the original art-work of more than 100 artists and features a live music lineup, a food bistro, wine and beer garden, art activities for kids, souvenir posters and T-shirts, art raffle drawing and more.
