The Daughters of the American Revolution (Northwest Florida Chapter) have donated 11 designated books to the Destin Library to enhance the library’s revolutionary history collection with an emphasis on the role of women during the American Revolution.
Authors whose works were donated include Cokie Roberts, Jeanne Abrams, Carol Berkin, Eve LaPlante and Florida young adult historical fiction writer Harvey E. Oyer III.
“The authors and titles selected were made in consultation with library staff and add depth and insight to the library’s collection in this area,” said Flo Perk, NW Florida Chapter 1st Vice Regent.
The DAR Northwest Florida Chapter in Destin was organized Feb. 8, 2014. This chapter includes beach areas such as Destin, Miramar Beach, Sandestin, Santa Rosa Beach, and inland to Freeport. The chapter serves members living in the surrounding areas of Okaloosa and Walton counties. The chapter is actively seeking women who wish to make a difference in our community, as the members support the DAR motto "God, Home, and Country."
