The community got together on Saturday to support the Mueller family and celebrate a man they loved at Dalton Threadgill Park.
Family members, friends and the community celebrated the life of Kevin Mueller, who passed away on July 6 at the age of 34. Kids enjoyed bouncy houses, games and a dunk booth. The family event also offered a raffle/silent auction, lots of food, bake sale and men’s softball exhibition games. All proceeds benefited the Mueller family.
“This is our first annual Kevin Mueller Foundation Fundraiser,” said Ashley Blasbichler, the event’s organizer. “We are going to hold this event every year for other families that are going through the same situation and need our help.”
Blasbichler said it’s hard for someone to lose a spouse and adjust to just one income.
“We are a small community and we need to come together and help out one of our own,” she said.
Amazed by the community’s support, Kathryn Fitzgerald said the event will help cover the cost of funeral expenses and help her sister, Angela Mueller, get back on her feet.
“It’s awesome how many people got together to support my sister. … It has been an overwhelming response,” she said.
Angela Mueller said the event turned out amazing and its has been a very heartwarming experience.
“This is exactly what (Kevin Mueller) would have wanted. He was a people person and loved to be part of the community,” she said.
