MIRAMAR BEACH — A visit by tourists to the Emerald Coast turned tragic Wednesday morning after a 2-year-old boy was found unresponsive in a pool at a residence being rented by the family.
According to a Walton County Sheriff's Office news release, deputies responded at 9:24 a.m. to 1935 Scenic Gulf Drive in reference to a young child that had fallen into a pool.
Once on scene, deputies took over CPR efforts. South Walton Fire District transported the child to Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast where he was stabilized.
At 11:40 a.m., according to WCSO spokesperson Corey Dobridnia, the young boy was breathing on his own when Okaloosa Med Flight transported him to a medical facility in Pensacola. There was no further information available on his medical condition.
The family of the 2-year-old was visiting Walton County from Satellite Beach.
