The seventh annual Emerald Coast Duck Regatta is scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 7 to benefit Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast Volunteer Guild.

The event will feature activities for the whole family, including face painters, Nonie’s Ark Animal Encounters and a scavenger hunt. The duck race begins at 1 p.m.

Approximately 3,000 ducks will race across the Lagoon at the Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Prizes will be awarded to the owners of the first ducks to cross the finish line, including a $5,000 first place prize. Additional prizes include Walt Disney World passes, Southwest Airline passes and more.

Ducks are available for adoption at the Sacred Heart Hospital Gift Shop in Miramar Beach, online at or at Baytowne Wharf the day of the event. Make a donation of $10 or more to the Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast Guild to adopt a duck. Adopt one duck for $10, three ducks for $27, six ducks for $50 or 12 ducks for $100.

Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast is building a 10-bed, Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to provide high quality, personalized care for babies who need special medical attention during the first days of a child’s life. Donations to the 2017 Duck Regatta will help acquire an important and essential part of this mission — a Giraffe Omnibed Carestation, which will provide the best possible care for our critically ill newborns and preemies.
