The fourth annual Stock the Pantry Party will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at Food For Thought's Santa Rosa Beach pantry, 132 Market Street.
The party is a family-friendly event focused on raising funds and food items to fight local food insecurity. By joining the Stock the Pantry Party, guests are helping local students in need in their community.
Guests are asked to bring $5 or five food items (suggested items include plastic jars of peanut butter, plastic jars of jelly, granola bars, fruit cups, snack crackers, and/or breakfast bars) to donate to enjoy all the fun. Enjoy pizzas, treats, drinks, a raffle with great prizes, and fun activities for the entire family.
In addition to this being a great opportunity to learn more about the local nonprofit, to sign up as a volunteer and to check out the new Full Circle Kitchen and Pantry Renovations, guests will get into the competitive spirit with the Food Drive Competition. Fifteen area schools, businesses, and churches will compete against each other to see who can collect the most food items. Last year, Ohana Institute took first place for the third consecutive year with more than 14,240 items. Sandestin Real Estate partnered with Sandestin Foundation for Kids and came in second with 11,536 items. Newman-Dailey Resort Properties took third with 5,055 items. Teams and guests helped to collect 56,000 food items total and $10,000 in donations.
“We’re experiencing tremendous growth year to year as an organization, and Stock the Pantry helps us get the school year started on the right foot,” said Tiffanie Nelson, founder/executive director of Food For Thought. “We hope this event brings new people to Food For Thought, and we continue to grow our base of community support as we grow in the number of students we’re serving.”
For those interested in getting involved, backpack sponsorships are available for a $500 donation to the organization and those funds will go directly toward purchasing food for distribution.
