The community came out to show its support Saturday during the Harbor Docks Charity Live Auction.

Harbor Docks restaurant hosted a live and silent auction with proceeds benefiting the 23rd annual Take-A-Kid-Fishing Day and the Destin Harvest nonprofit organization.

“We are hoping to raise $40,000 this year,” said Jackie Tway, Harbor Docks' general manager. “Some of these kids have never been over the Destin bridge or fishing.”

Tway said about 350 kids sign up for Take-A-Kid-Fishing Day every year.

“Some are repeat kids that come again and love it,” she said. “This is probably the only time they have a chance to go out fishing.”

Merrisa Ingram came out for the first time to show her support and bid on some items.

“We are typically out of town when this event occurs, and always wanted to go. I am excited to be here,” she said.

Ingram said she likes to give back to the community and donate to mostly children charities.

“Attending these events is our way of giving back to kids that are less fortunate,” she said.
