U.S. 98 crash killed woman from Arkansas who was a passenger on motorcycle.
The Florida Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help in a fatal hit-and-run crash Saturday night.
According to a FHP news release, a reported black or blue Toyota sedan with heavy left front end damage is being sought by law enforcement following the 7:40 p.m. incident on U.S. Highway 98 in Bay County.
The Toyota was stopped in the median on U.S. 98 when it pulled onto the roadway and collided with a 2005 Honda motorcycle near the intersection with Gulf View Drive.
After impact, the driver of the motorcycle, 52-year-old Robert L. Smith of Panama City, and a 23-year-old Rebecca Summar from Benton, Arkansas, were thrown from the bike. Smith landed on the north shoulder of the roadway while the female passenger landed in the outside lane of westbound U.S. 98. FHP noted at that point the Toyota fled the crash scene on Gulf View Drive.
Summar was then struck and killed by a 2014 Lexus driven by Jefferson Strong, 58, of Vicksburg, Miss.
Smith was listed in critical condition Sunday morning at Bay Medical Center in Panama City.
FHP is currently looking for a blue or black 2013 Toyota Prius.
The Toyota remains sought by the Highway Patrol. Anyone with information on the vehicle is asked to call *FHP.
