DESTIN — The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office has arrested a teenager in connection with a shooting in a quiet Destin neighborhood last month that left one person injured.

According to a press release, 17-year old Deveon Yawn has been charged with shooting a passenger in another car Aug. 21 around midnight near Airport Road and Twin Lakes Drive in Destin.

The victim, 19-year old Tyjuan Lee, was struck in the head, but the bullet was removed from his scalp and he survived.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office developed Yawn as a suspect. Yawn was one of several occupants in a Jeep Wrangler and is accused of shooting a .38 snub-nosed pistol out the Jeep window at the car Lee was riding in.

Yawn told investigators he was just trying to scare the people in the other car and did not intend to shoot anyone. He is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and shooting a deadly missile into a vehicle.

The investigation is continuing and remains active.
