Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation kicked-off its brand new Concerts in the Village fall series with local band Heritage on Thursday evening at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Art Village.

Heritage is the first of four local bands participating in the fall series and showcasing their musical talents. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a chair, blanket, a picnic and even a bottle of wine. Local restaurants will also be on site serving dinner options.

The Concerts in the Village fall series will continue each Thursday at 7 p.m. through Oct 5. Also performing will be Luke Langford & 331 South, Déjà vu and Swingtown: A Steve Miller Tribute Band.

“We always focus on all genre of music that represent all ages,” said Marcia Hull, the foundation’s chief executive officer. “Now we are doing something to attract more millennials and utilize this facility more.”

Lee Curtis came out with her family and enjoyed a night of live music.

“I’m excited for a series in the fall with cooler weather and being able to see more local bands,” she said. “This is the time of the year that we enjoy the most.”

General admission to the concerts is $10 per person and children under 12 are free. Tickets are sold at the gate beginning at 6 p.m.
