Okaloosa County Master Gardeners fall plant sale will feature butterfly and pollinator plants including the Red Leaf Hibiscus.

This plant is in the Malvaceae family and grows 4-6 feet tall. It is hardy in USDA Zones 8a to 11 and prefers full sun and blooms late fall into winter. It prefers a mildly acidic soil. The gorgeous maple-shaped burgundy foliage is stunning year-round.

Many other plants will be available at the sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Okaloosa Extension Annex, 127 Hollywood Blvd. NW in Fort Walton Beach. The sale is indoors and goes on rain or shine.

Some other featured plants include Dwarf Turk’s Cap, Evergreen Gloxinia, red and white Salvia, Fire Spike, and Mexican Bush Sage. All plants (except large potted plants) are $5, or five plants for $20.

Master Gardeners are available at the Fort Walton Beach Annex to answer your questions every Friday morning (except holiday weekends) from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. For residents living closer to the Niceville office, the group has Master Gardeners available to identify your plants or plant diseases, conduct soil samples, or give you advice for your lawn on Mondays (except holidays) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Niceville Youth Center, 200 Campbell Drive.
