The Friends Guild of the Destin Library will host a presentation by Richard Barlow Adams entitled West Point on the Eve of the Civil War at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at the library. This program is free and open to the public.

Adams, a West Point graduate, will entertain attendees with a story of West Point on the Eve of the Civil War. His award winning historical novel, "The Parting," is a true and epic story leading up to the first major battle of the Civil War to the final years at the Academy for the Class of 1861. The novel portrays how historical events divided West Point’s 1861 graduating class on the eve of the Civil War, changing all of their lives forever.

Adams is the first of three brothers to graduate from West Point, a Vietnam veteran, a forensic engineer, a former Vail ski instructor, and a lover of all things Dickens.
