This week students and staff at Destin Middle School got spirit - school spirit that is.

Monday through Thursday of this past week, students dressed up to show their school spirit with fun themed days such as twin day, character day and black out day.

"This week is leading up to the football game against Ruckel on Thursday night," said Language Arts Teacher Leah McGill. "We do this to show school spirit and it's fun for the children to see the teachers dressed up too."

McGill came to school Wednesday as Mr. Potato Head, and her neighboring teacher Paula LaSalle came as Mrs. Potato Head.

"We just love the Marlins!" said McGill.

As for the students, Wednesday afternoon saw hundreds of costumes from Disney characters to political figures. Creativity ran high as some kids made their own costumes, and others formed whole groups of characters. There were a few groups of Snow White and the seven dwarfs, countless Mickey and Minnie Mouses and action figure trios and duos galore.
