DESTIN — A woman was arrested for domestic violence after beating her son and husband.
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in Destin on Oct. 28 at around 10 p.m. in reference to a disturbance, according to the woman’s arrest report. When they arrived, the woman’s son told them the entire incident began when his 39-year-old mother asked him to go to the store for her.
The son told her he would, and then his mother began yelling at him, telling him he should be more respectful to her “since she raised him.” The mother also said it had been eight weeks since she had undergone a surgical procedure, and her son was treating her like “(expletive).”
The son told his mom she was “out of it” and had been “aggressive,” and the woman’s husband told him that wasn’t polite. The woman then turned on her husband, telling him, “you, prostitute husband, he is talking (expletive).”
At that point, the woman started swinging her arms and hitting her husband. The son yelled at her to stop, and then she began trying to hit her son. When the son lifted his arms up in self-defense, the woman fell back on the floor and told her husband her son had pushed her.
Her husband told her that’s not what happened, and asked if she was OK. The woman then got up off the floor and started swinging at her son again.
A deputy observed blood stains all over the husband’s shirt and visible redness on his face. He would not tell the deputies what had happened, but the woman’s son and several witnesses in the home did.
The woman was arrested and booked on two misdemeanor domestic violence charges.
