Embroiderers’ Guild

Snowbird Stroll

The community is invited to attend the Snowbird Stroll from 4-6 p.m. Jan. 18 at Gulf Place in Santa Rosa Beach. Guests check in at the stage to receive their complimentary commemorative glass and a map with all the participating merchants. Guests will enjoy live music, door prizes, wine and hors d’oeuvres at more than 15 stops in the Gulf Place neighborhood. Another stroll will be held from 5-6 p.m. Feb. 15. Cost to participate is $20.

 

ACT/SAT workshop

A workshop to assist students in Okaloosa County High Schools who will take the March 10 SAT and Feb. 10 ACT will be held from 2-5 p.m. Feb. 5, 6, 12 and 13 in the Media Center at Fort Walton Beach High School and 2-5 p.m. Feb. 7, 8, 14 and 15 at Niceville High School. For students only taking the Feb. 10 ACT, they should attend Feb. 5 and 6 at FWBHS and Feb. 7 and 8 at Niceville HS for a complete four session workshop. All materials, snacks and drinks are furnished. Students need to bring calculators. Registration deadline is Jan. 22. Blood Drive

Uptown Station will host the OneBlood Drive from 12-5 p.m. Jan. 22. The OneBlood Big Red Bus will be parked in the Uptown Station parking lot, near the children’s park and Winn Dixie. Photo ID is required. All donors receive a wellness checkup of blood pressure, pulse, temperature and iron count, including cholesterol screening. Donors will also receive a Winn Dixie gift card.

 

Inductive Bible study

State of the City Address

Mayor Scott Fischer will present the City of Destin’s 33rd Annual State of the City Address at 5 p.m. Feb. 5 at the City Hall Annex, 4100 Indian Bayou Trail. Refreshments will be served at 4:30 p.m. The presentation will be given prior to the 6 p.m. council meeting that evening. Citizens are encouraged to attend this celebration of the city’s accomplishments from 2017!

“It has been an absolute pleasure to represent Destin this past year, and I look forward to sharing the current state of the city with everyone,” said Mayor Fischer. “While 2017 brought some challenges, it was also filled with accomplishments that are keeping this city moving in a positive direction. Fasching Party

The ladies Sodality of Corpus Christi Catholic Church is planning a Fasching Party from 5-9 p.m. Feb. 10 in the Church Hall. There will be a DJ playing German music as well as other music for your dancing pleasure, homemade food including German Bratwurst and Knackwurst from USINGERS of Milwaukee, Wis., sauerkraut, red cabbage, German potato salad, pumpernickel bread, apple cake for dessert and coffee, iced tea and lemonade. DES Spirit Nights

LuLu’s in Destin will host Spirit Night for Destin Elementary from 5-8 p.m. Feb. 12 (the second Monday of each month through April). Ten percent of food and drink sales will be donated to the Destin Elementary PTO. LuLu's is at the foot of the Mid-Bay Bridge.

 

Spring Craft Show

The City of Destin’s 12th Annual Spring Craft Show will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 16 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Community Center. There will be more than 50 vendors showing handcrafted jewelry, woodcarvings, paintings, food items and more. Vendor booths are available for $45/Destin residents and $55/non-residents. Tai Chi Class

The Destin Library will offer one-hour Tai Chi classes with Barbara Rezmer, a certified Tai Chi for Health instructor, on Monday mornings at 9 a.m. The cost is $5/session.
