The Tri-County Horticulture and Environmental Studies Group has planned a bus trip to Tallahassee on Feb. 22.

On the agenda is, first of all, a visit to Florida’s friendliest small village, Havana, for a unique shopping experience and lunch. After lunch, the group will visit Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park where the group will tour the historic mansion and enjoy the beauty of the famous gardens during prime camellia blooming season. The last stop on the trip is Tallahassee Nurseries, a “must stop” destination for the gardeners on board. Camellias will be for sale at the nursery, so it will be a good time to pick up one or two for your garden.

Choose the bus pick up location and departure best suited to your location. The bus will depart The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island at 6 a.m. The second departure will be at the Publix at Grand Boulevard (park near U.S. Highway 98), at 6:30 a.m., and the last pickup will depart Best Western Motel in DeFuniak Springs at 7 a.m. Return time is approximately 6 p.m. for the first drop-off in DeFuniak springs, 6:30 for Grand Boulevard, and 7 p.m. for The Boardwalk.

Make plans now to join this group of people interested in the horticulture and environment of the Emerald Coast. Reservations must be made in advance. Reserve your seat on the bus by sending a $30 check payable to TCHESG. Mail to Joyce Waters Smith, 1338 Driftwood Point Road, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, 32459, along with your name, cellphone number, email address and preferred pick up location.
