Grief Support Group

The Destin United Methodist Church sponsored Stephen Ministers will begin a grief group for all those who have experienced a loss at 2 p.m. Jan. 25 in the Destin Life Center at DUMC, 200 Beach Drive. The group will meet for six consecutive weeks.

The attempt to return to the routines of one’s life after facing a significant loss is no small challenge. The group will recognize the need to grieve and the need to slow down and take it easy. One day at a time is not just a cliché, it is a guiding principle for those facing loss. Re-adjusting after a significant loss is nothing less than beginning again. The normal has been taken away from us and our new normal is both frightening and foreboding.
