The kids in Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Walton counties are out of school for spring break March 19-23, but let’s be real, parents could use a break, too. (Okaloosa kids also have off March 16.) If you are looking for exciting educational experiences for your kids — and some free time for yourself — here are some local spring break camps.

 

Biophilia Day Camp

Want your kids to get a hands-on educational experience during spring break? Check out Biophilia’s one-day camp on March 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Campers will take part in dip-netting in the pond, hiking nature trails, meeting animals, exploring the museum, experiencing interactive exhibits and making crafts using nature materials.

Gulfarium Sunset Camp

This camp is for the marine life lovers and as a bonus will afford parents a night out during the week-long spring break mayhem.

Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park is hosting their popular Sunset Camp March 22 from 4 to 9 p.m. and March 29 from 4 to 9 p.m.

The Sunset Camp includes a dockside encounter with a dolphin, a walk-and-explore along the beach at dusk, ocean-themed activities, a scavenger hunt, and dinner at Seal Harbor.

Bluewater Bay Spring Camp

Sports and fun are what Bluewater Bay Tennis Center’s Spring Camp is all about. With a full-week program set for March 19-23, this camp focuses on keeping kids active.

The camp program accepts children ages 4-17 years old at any skill level and includes tennis drills, basketball and soccer training, team competitions and arts and crafts.

Choose between Full Day Camp from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or Spring Tennis Academy, which is 10 a.m.-noon daily.

Emerald Coast Theatre Co. Camp Broadway

If you have any budding thespians in your care, sign them up for the Emerald Coast Theatre Co.'s Camp Broadway.

As the name states, the theme of this year’s camp is Broadway tunes and children grades 2-5 will learn Broadway songs and dance choreography to go along with them.

Emerald Coast Theatre Co. is in Suite 560 at Grand Boulevard in Miramar Beach. Camp Broadway runs March 19-23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a special performance for parents on the last day of camp.

Resolute Martial Arts

Dubbed the Ultimate Spring Break Camp, Resolute Martial Arts in Destin is offering a week-long program March 19-23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for kids ages 5 and up. Cost is $169 per child.

The program includes daily art projects, NERF wars, dodge ball and karate.

Hoofbeats Equestrian Program

Are your kids interested in equestrian showmanship? Check out Hoofbeats Equestrian Program’s Spring Break Camp March 19-23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Kids ages 5-15 years old can take part in daily horse riding lessons, general horse care practices and learn about equestrian nutrition and anatomy. During lunch, campers also engage in games with another riding lesson in the afternoon. Cost for the week is $325 per camper.
