The first of the 2018 Okaloosa County Master Gardener lecture series, Preparing Your Lawn in the Spring, will be held from 10-11 a.m. March 21 at the Okaloosa Extension Office, 3098 Airport Road in Crestview.

If your lawn has had a history of problems with summer annual weeds such as crabgrass, or brown patch, or bare spots, you'll want to learn all the answers to these and many more lawn problem questions. Many people fertilize too early, so you'll get the information on when to fertilize and what other treatments your lawn will benefit from.

Our climate, sandy soils and pest problems are unique compared to most areas of the country. You'll receive information that will help you to correctly treat destructive lawn worms, mowing techniques, what causes the growth of mushrooms, and other interesting topics concerning your lawn.

There is no cost to attend, but space is limited so registration is required. Call 689-5850 to register.
