A deputy spotted up to 30 people in the home’s pool with alcoholic drinks.

An Oklahoma man renting a Destin home is charged with hosting an open house party after allowing underage attendees to consume alcoholic beverages.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office deputies were responding to a noise complaint at 3463 Scenic Highway 98 on Monday around 2:45 p.m. A deputy spotted up to 30 people in the home's pool with alcoholic drinks. When he asked for identification, the group got out of the pool and escaped out the front door.

Deputies say based on those actions, the renter of the home, 56-year-old Ronald Emmett Townsend of Ada, Oklahoma, should have known underage people were consuming alcohol, yet he failed to take reasonable steps to prevent it.

The charge is contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a second degree misdemeanor.
