DESTIN – A 53-year-old homeless man who tried unsuccessfully to break into someone’s car defended himself to deputies by saying he hadn’t stolen anything.
Witnesses reported the man was pulling on the door handle of a car parked in a driveway.
When he was caught, he fled on foot. Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the man and detained him.
“I didn’t steal anything,” he said, repeatedly until he was read his Miranda rights.
After that, he stopped talking, according to his OCSO arrest report.
He was charged with burglary.
