DESTIN – A woman who told deputies she was a heroin addict was charged with illegal possession of drugs and paraphernalia.

Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a Destin restaurant after staff members found a makeup bag with narcotics in it.

When they interviewed the 32-year-old homeless woman, she said her driver’s license was in a friend’s car. But when they showed her the bag, she immediately claimed it as hers and opened it up.

The deputy could see a clear glass pipe and her driver’s license, the report said.

While searching the purse, he found 7 grams of suspected methamphetamine and four capped syringes.

After being read her rights, she admitted to being a heroin addict.
