The Destin Garden Club honored members Kathy Foster, Connie Wood and Donna Stuart recently for attending the 15-week University of Florida Master Gardener training program offered through the Okaloosa County Extension office in Crestview.

The club is very proud of their achievement. The club currently has nine active Master Gardeners in the membership rooster. The club also has members who live in Walton County who plan on attending the fall Walton County Master Gardener program.

The Destin Garden Club is dedicated to enriching its membership and the public with gardening awareness and education. The object of the club is to stimulate the love of gardening among members; to promote gardening through community projects; to aid in the protection of birds, trees, shrubs; and flowers to encourage city beautification and to share with members and others the fruit of our studies.

The Destin Garden Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 9:15 a.m. and has an educational lecture. The meetings are held at the Destin Library, 150 Sibert Avenue. At the next meeting on June 12, Lynda Penry will give an informative lecture on plant diseases. The meetings are free and open to the public. The club also meets the third Tuesday of each month to maintain six landscape beds at the library. At the May workday, Linda Timothy, landscape committee chair, demonstrated propagation techniques and members propagated many plants to use at a later date for their annual plant sale.
