DESTIN — A 65-year-old man was rescued by the Coast Guard on Friday after he passed out while fishing 20 nautical miles south of Destin.
The Coast Guard in Mobile, Alabama, received a request for medical assistance from the catamaran Pecan about 8 a.m. after the man passed out and then regained consciousness while fishing.
A Coast Guard response boat from Destin was launched with a crew and two EMS passengers.
The crew arrived at the scene at 8:43 a.m. and brought the man to the Coast Guard station, where and ambulance was waiting to take him to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. The man was in stable condition.
