OKALOOSA ISLAND — A 56-year-old man was arrested for BUI after his boat ran aground on the beach near Destin’s West Jetty.
According to a report from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, on May 15 officers responded to a 911 call about a vessel that ran aground west of the West Jetty just after 9 p.m.
When the officers arrived, they noticed the man was struggling to walk ashore and was being held up by his passenger, another man. The boat had run aground approximately 45 feet up the beach.
The boat’s captain failed field sobriety tests and blew a .220 and .230 on a breathalyzer, almost three times the legal driving limit.
He was arrested and charged with boating under the influence.
