The Destin History and Fishing Museum is celebrating Shark Week June 14, 15, and 16. The Museum’s Shark Tank features four local sharks. Additional shark mounts of locally caught sharks are located on the Fish Wall and the Reef Ecosystem Recreation. The Rodeo Gallery will have a temporary exhibit of 35 8X10 photos of sharks caught during previous Destin Fishing Rodeos contributed by Rodeo Photographer Jake Brashears & For Reel Photos.
Tony Mennillo of Arturo’s Studio has prepared a slide show of 187 “behind the scenes” photos taken during the filming of JAWS 2 while it was on location in Destin. Check your “SHARK IQ” to see how well you can answer the shark trivia questions in the museum.
On Saturday, June 16, at 1 p.m., Michael Smith, the co-author of “JAWS 2-The Making of the Hollywood Sequel,” will have a book signing to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the movie JAWS 2. Come meet the author as well as local members from the cast and crew.
