The Destin Fishing Rodeo office is stacked with boxes of new T-shirts waiting to be sorted and folded into the wooden shelves in the back of the small room.

Rodeo Executive Director Helen Donaldson opens the boxes between taking calls and finalizing the 2018 tournament guide.

"I'm having printer problems today," Donaldson said, motioning toward the guide's cover page.

This year's Rodeo T-shirts come in a variety of colors; coral, teal, navy blue, white, gray, and red, and there's more merchandise on the way.

"This is just the first round," said Donaldson. "We're going to have hats, sweatshirts, tanks, jackets, and some ladies' designs. We'll start receiving those in September."

Donaldson said they hope to sale about 700 T-shirts in the next few months before before the Rodeo officially kicks off in October.

The Rodeo staff is looking into purchasing new, on-trend gear as the tournament gets closer. Donaldson said the most unique item they've ever sold was a T-shirt with a big photo of weighmaster Bruce Cheves' face on the front of it.

This year, the logo was designed by Jon Tyner, a freelance designer who works with The Logo Place in Destin. The logo has a masculine, mystical, yet nautical feel to it, with dark blue fish and a large golden "70" in the middle to commemorate the rodeo's 70th year.

Long-sleeved shirts will be on sale for $30 and short-sleeved tees will be on sale for $25. They run from size S to 3XL and can also be purchased on the Destin Fishing Rodeo's website.

The Rodeo begins Oct. 1 and runs through the entire month. Miss Destin 2018 Ellen Brown will be in attendance each day throughout the Rodeo to take photos with attendees, participants and their catches.
