FREEPORT — A 23-year-old man was arrested for a DUI after drinking at Crab Island.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office was called in reference to a possible DUI. A deputy arrived on scene and found a man who had been stopped for careless driving.

The deputy asked the man to open his window. The man said his window was broken, so he opened the door.

The deputy noticed a cut on the back of his foot. The man said he was cut with a boat propeller at Crab Island. The deputy wrote in the arrest report that a strong odor of alcohol came from the vehicle, his eyes were red and his speech was slurred.

The deputy conducted a series of DUI tests on the man, all of which he failed. The man said he had five beers at Crab Island. He was arrested and brought to the jail for a breath test. He blew a 0.132 and 0.131.
