EMERALD COAST PORTABLE BUILDINGS

Inspired by his daughter’s and son-in-law’s West Point educations, Roger Davis incorporated integrity, honesty and respect into the operation of Emerald Coast Portable Buildings.

This Navarre location opened in late May, serving as a Weather King Portable Buildings dealer.

“We sell manufactured sheds, garages and cabins, manufactured in Georgia specifically for Florida to withstand the storms we get,” Davis said. “We have a variety of colors; you can pick pretty much how you want your building to look.”

Sizes range from 6 feet by 8 feet up to 12 feet by 24 feet. Davis said people use the structures for anything from yard tool storage to hunting cabins.

He and his family came to the area after his Air Force career, discovering Navarre when Davis was stationed at Hurlburt Field. Knowing the area, he said that this is a homecoming as well as a great place for Emerald Coast Portable Buildings.

“We like the area,” Davis said. “It’s right on Highway 98.”

MERLIN’S PIZZA DELIVERY

Having been a part of Destin for 19 years, locally-owned Merlin’s Pizza has always offered delivery. Late in May, the owners opened a separate kitchen to streamline delivery service.

“We had a need after last summer, and we were so busy,” said Merlin’s Pizza President Rick Johnson, who owns the business with his father and Merlin’s Pizza CEO, Bruce Johnson. “Location is very important in making this happen right."

The delivery-only kitchen holds a low-profile on Main Street in Destin.

“It lets us get to everywhere in town fairly quick, without fighting traffic,” Johnson said. “I want all our face-to-face interaction in our original location.”

The owners took measures to ensure that the delivery kitchen equipment is the same as the eat-in and pick-up kitchen, ensuring consistency in recipes and flavors.

“We’ve had a huge increase in our delivery times,” Johnson said. “Our pick-ups and the dine-in customers are getting better service as well.”

Delivery includes pizzas, salads, appetizers, wings and desserts. The menu also offers gluten-free crusts. Orders can be placed by phone or online.
