You know that the community library has made a lasting impression when it unexpectedly hears from a young adult who, almost a decade ago, was a regular in the story-time program.

That just happened at the Destin Library when a call came in from Zoe, who is now an eighth-grade student.

Zoe thought of her local library when looking for a safe and hospitable new home for her treasured stuffed animal characters from all her favorite childhood books.

On Aug. 22, Zoe and her mother Roberta stopped by the library and gifted to the story-time program almost a dozen stuffed animal characters for future children’s programs. Among the donations were the Lorax, Raggedy Ann, Clifford, T-Bone, Cleo, Horton, Skippyjon Jones, Max and Fancy Nancy. All items donated were in pristine condition.

“Zoe’s generous gift will be a fantastic and lasting addition to the children’s program at the Destin Library. Thank you Zoe for thinking of us,” said Will Rogers, Destin's reference and youth services librarian.
