Yates Construction provided a $5,000 gift to Northwest Florida State College to support the welding program.

The gift will cover the cost of toolkits used by welding students. Each toolkit will include a welding helmet, welding jacket, welding gloves, safety glasses, tape measure, wire brush, chipping hammer, T-shirt, and other miscellaneous items.

“The support we receive from corporate partners such as Yates Construction make a tremendous impact on our students,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson, president of the college. “This donation will allow us to continue to put our students first and focus on their success.”

Ranked among the top construction services providers in the country by Engineering News Record, Yates Construction is family owned and provides a wide range of construction and building services. Founded in 1964 by William G. Yates Jr., Yates Construction has steadily grown to become one of the top construction providers in the nation.

This gift comes shortly after NWF State College Welding Professor Scottie Smith was named the 2018 Teacher of the Year by The Welder Magazine.
