DEFUNIAK SPRINGS – As of Friday morning 2,459 CHELCO members are without electricity.

All transmissions lines feeding CHELCO’s service territory have been repaired. CHELCO crews, contractors and crews from other cooperatives continue to work outages. Crews are expected to restore power to several large outages today, and they will continue to work Saturday and Sunday as needed.

Outages can be monitored on CHELCO’s outage map. A link is available at CHELCO.com.

About 15,000 members were without power Thursday morning, and that number was reduced to fewer than 2,350 by 10 p.m. CHELCO outage management system is updated as power is restored, members call in outages or the automated meter reading system detects outages. Therefore, outage numbers can fluctuate up and down.

CHELCO encourages members to call in their outages to keep our system updated and to make sure our system is current. Outages can be reported through the CHELCO Connect app or online at CHELCO.com.

All CHELCO offices are open except for Santa Rosa Beach. Members can also follow CHELCO on Facebook @myCHELCO or CHELCO.com for office hours, outage information, storm safety and preparation information.

CHELCO is a not-for-profit electric distribution cooperative serving more than 52,000 accounts in Walton, Okaloosa, Holmes and Santa Rosa counties.
