Destin man takes car for a test drive, never returns
FORT WALTON BEACH -- A 29-year-old Destin man asked a local car dealership if he could take a car for an extra test drive to Destin to show his father and then never returned with the vehicle, according to his Fort Walton Beach Police Department arrest report.
Glenn Oakes Yeager was charged with grand theft and making a false statement to obtain goods.
The car, a 2007 Dodge Nitro, is valued at $16,600. Lee Pontiac employees told police they had allowed Yeager to take the car due to his father's good credit history with the dealership.
On his credit report, Yeager listed an employer who said later that he had never worked for him, the report said.
Yeager was arrested Feb. 24 for the Jan. 7 incident. He is due to appear in court April 6.
