Investigation continues in infant's death
NICEVILLE — The state attorney’s office is helping police investigate the drowning death of a 1-year-old girl last month.
Niceville Police Chief Brian Cruttenden confirmed that investigator Lt. Steve Gaiser and Assistant State Attorney Bobby Elmore met Wednesday at the Children’s Advocacy Center in Niceville.
The men reviewed the circumstances surrounding the death of Kyli Grace Haynes, who was found facedown in a bathtub at a home on Niceville Avenue on Aug. 24.
Police have requested telephone records for Tara Haynes, Kyli’s mother, Cruttenden said.
According to a Niceville police report, Haynes and a woman named Jennifer Ogden were on the front porch administering CPR to “an unconscious female infant” when officers arrived at the scene.
The child was taken to Twin Cities Hospital and then flown to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, where she died early Aug. 25.
