Boat parade lights up Destin harbor (PHOTOS)

The Destin History and Fishing Museum hosted the 23rd Holiday on the Harbor Destin Boat Parade Sunday, which was sponsored by the Destin Charter Boat Association and MeLasers. Mayor Craig Barker was the Master of Ceremonies for the event with judging from Harry T’s Restaurant.  Twenty-four boats registered for the lighted boat parade, which was viewed all along Destin harbor.

Winners in each category were:
•Private 30 ft. & Under:  GUSU — Captained by “Santa”
•Private 31 ft. & Over:  JENNY’S TONIC — Patrick McCarthy
•Charter/Commercial 30 ft. & Under:  ARMY ONE — William Moore
•Charter/Commercial 31 ft. & Over:  SWOOP — Matt Wheeler
•Tour Boat/Motorized:  SOUTHERN STAR — Cliff Atwell
•Sailboat 30 ft. & Under:  SEA DOG — Alan Gardner
•Sailboat 31 ft. & Over:  BLACKBEARD II — Andy Stemphi
•Overall Best Entry:  “C” LADY — Norm Leonpacher

The Museum and Parade Committee thanks everyone that participated in helping to light up the harbor with holiday spirit and everyone that came out to join in the beautiful display. Special thanks to the Destin Coast Guard Station, City of Destin, AJ’s, Callahan’s, Camellia’s Grill, Camille’s of Crystal Beach, Crazy Lobster, Dewey Destin’s, Fudpucker’s, Harbor Docks, Harry T’s, the Holiday on the Harbor Boat Parade Committee and Judges for helping to make the parade a wonderful Destin Holiday Tradition. Funds raised from the event go to the creation of new exhibits in the Museum.
