If you think you have what it takes to sling drinks with style at Destin's Coyote Ugly Saloon, owner Joanna Olsen invites you to an open audition March 24 at HarborWalk Village.
"We're looking for attractive girls," said Olsen. "You must have a great personality; it's a very interactive show and the performances are all choreographed."
With work on Destin's Coyote Ugly still ongoing, Olsen sat down with The Log for a quick chat ahead of the bar's April 5 grand opening. Olsen, a Destin resident, also owns the Coyote Ugly Saloons in Panama City Beach and Tampa.
Ahead of the grand opening, potential Coyotes have an opportunity to showcase their skills during a closed door screening session at the harbor front saloon, formerly home of the Shed BBQ & Blues Joint. Finalists will strut their stuff in front of Olsen and a panel of celebrity judges Sunday on the events stage at HarborWalk Village for the final round of competition.
To be a Coyote, one must be able to keep a beat, pour a drink and do it with attitude, Olsen says.
"Coyotes will be performing choreographed routines, such as 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia,' " she said.
Once the bartender/performers are selected, Olsen said they will be put through an intense dance boot camp for two weeks, as they learn all of the routines that will be performed atop the bar.
Destin's Coyote Ugly Saloon will be open from 4 p.m. - 4 a.m., seven-days-a week, and will offer discounts to locals and members of the military. As a local's bar, Olsen said there will be no cover charge for locals and military. There will also be plenty of pool tables and TVs to entertain the crowds, not to mention electric bulls.
With the April 5 grand opening just weeks away, Olsen has been spending plenty of time at her new bar, preparing for one heck of a party. Doors will open to the public at 9 p.m. with prizes giveaways all night long. For more information about Coyote Ugly call 850-460-7065 or visit www.coyoteuglysaloon.com.
"This is going to be a whole new environment for Destin," Olsen said from her office overlooking the Destin harbor. "We were waiting for the right location to open another saloon and this was it."
