LETTER: We're still coming!
My family has been coming to the Florida Panhandle (specifically Destin) for about 25 years. Of course, we made reservations last year to stay at our favorite spot in June.
Upon hearing of the oil spill in the Gulf, we searched for alternative vacation spots on the Georgia coast and even inland Georgia. We came very close a few weeks ago to canceling our reservations as we weren't sure what to expect.
After thinking long and hard about all of the fond memories that your community and your beautiful part of the world have provided my family, we decided that we are not going to spend our money anywhere else.
With the commitment you have shown in keeping Destin safe and family-friendly, we have decided to make a commitment to you.
We look forward to yet another amazing vacation in Destin with our 20-plus family members in June.
