HAMMY IT UP: Dinosaur returning to FWB Goofy Golf
For around 45 years the Fort Walton Beach Goofy Golf Dinosaur thrilled and amused generations of kids as it welcomed them to a Fort Walton Beach tradition. Sad to say, the Dinosaur was badly damaged in 2003 when a large truck went past Goofy Golf and shook the dinosaur off its foundations. Despite a campaign led by the Jaycees to have the beast repaired and a public subscription (which raised over $2000) to pay for it, the creature languished in a local boatyard for some years.
On hearing of the fate of the Dinosaur, Jay Odom, developer of Hammock Bay and Uptown Station, swung his operation into action to save the local monument. Over the past year the Hammock Bay and Uptown Station Landscape Crew, led by Landscape Architect James Baker, have been repairing, rehabilitation and reconstructing Hammy the Dinosaur. The new revitalized T-Rex will be unveiled on Tuesday October 14th in time for Goofy Golf’s 50th Birthday on October 15th.
Hammy will be accompanied by a whole family of Dinosaurs from Hammock Bay and Uptown Station.
The unveiling, by Robert Friskes, owner of Goofy Golf and Jay Odom will take place at 12:00pm on Tuesday October 14th at Goofy Golf on Eglin Parkway in Fort Walton Beach.
Following the event Goofy Golf will be reverting to 1958 prices for a week from October 15th to 21st – 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children.
