Destin man 'free bags' $175 worth of groceries
DESTIN -- A Destin man was arrested Jan. 30 after loss prevention officers at Walmart watched him remove items from the shelves and place them in bags that he had in his cart.
This is commonly known as "free bagging," according to his Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office arrest report.
The 41-year-old man moved through the store placing items into the bags in his cart. He then went to a checkout lane and paid for $82 worth of items that were in his cart that weren't bagged.
He did not pay for the items that were in the bags, the report said. Those items totaled $175.71.
He was charged with theft.
