Man calls for help after getting texts from ex

DESTIN - An Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office deputy had to step in after a man was receiving several harassing text messages from his ex-wife on June 23.

The man had saved the text messages on his cell phone, according to a Sheriff's Office arrest report. The deputy noted the messages were obviously part of an ongoing dispute between the former spouses.

The ex-wife was contacted regarding the threatening nature of some of the messages and was told if a conversation was taking place between her and her ex-husband, there was no violation of the law.

The woman was also advised that repeated text messages for the purpose of harassment or spite could be construed as illegal and she was asked to maintain a dignified relationship, if possible.
